Creating your character

You must use this sheet to submit your character:

Step 1: Mortal concept
- Figure out who you were in life. Were you a doctor, a drug dealer, a retail sales clerk, or any of the other millions of things a human can be? Once you have a concept, figure out your history. This will assist you in determining who they are going to be as one of the Kindred.
Step 2: Kindred backstory
- When were you Embraced? Who is your sire, what clan did they bring you into? Were there any other Kindred that were influential in your early nights? What Sect did they bring you into and are you still a part of it?
- PLEASE NOTE: Characters must be Fledglings/Childer or Neonates, or Mortals. No Ancilla/Elders.
  
  Neonate: Embraced between 1940 and 10 years ago (2023)
  - 12th or 13th Generation. Blood Potency 1.
  - Starts with 15 experience points.
  Fledgling: Embraced within the last 10 years
  - 12th or 13th Generation: Blood Potency 1.
  - 14th, 15th and 16th Generation: Blood Potency 0. (Thin Bloods are always fledglings.)
  - No Predator Type, and will not gain one in play. (PT represents habits built over years)
  - Must purchase the Mawla merit, minimum 1 dot
  Mortal: You’re still alive, but for how long?
  - No Generation/Clan/Disciplines/other Vampiric stats.
  - No Predator Type, and will not gain one in play. (PT represents habits built over years)
  - No Supernatural Merits/Flaws/Backgrounds that a typical Mortal would not have access to.
  - You might just die, but if you’re Embraced:
    - You still might die-there is a roll to survive the embrace!
    - You will gain the 3 starting disciplines via playing, as they come up in the story. There is no XP cost for these.
    - You must have or find a Mawla, usually your Sire.
  - Mortals gain fewer XP/week than Kindred, and are capped at 15 (until Embraced).
  Hard Mode:
  - Thin-bloods (14th + generation) are allowed, but no one likes a Thin-Blood – they are closely monitored if not outright killed.
  - The unlives of Salubri and Ravnos will be quite difficult as a reflection of the clan bane and other setting driven plot.
Step 3: Fill out your sheet

As you consider your attributes, skills, and beyond keep your concept in mind. While in this day and age it is quite likely that a barista may have academics 4 with a specialization in public health, not everything is going to make sense. We want you to make it make sense for your concept and character history.
- ATTRIBUTES
  - Distribute as per V:tM Core Rulebook page 136
  - Take one Attribute at 4; three Attributes at 3; four Attributes at 2; one Attribute at 1.
- SKILLS
  - Distribute as per V:tM Core Rulebook page 136
    - jack of all trades: One Skill at 3; eight Skills at 2; ten Skills at 1
    - balanced: Three Skills at 3; five Skills at 2; seven Skills at 1
    - specialist: One Skill at 4; three Skills at 3; three Skills at 2; three Skills at 1
    IF you have at least one dot in these skills, add an automatic specialty: Academics, Craft, Performance, or Science. This represents your field of study.
    
    Take one free specialty on any skill.
- DISCIPLINES
  - Select disciplines as per V:tM Core Rulebook page 136
    - 2 dots in one, 1 dot in a second. Both disciplines must be in-clan
    - Catiff characters may not begin with Blood Sorcery or Oblivion. Protean and amalgam powers may be permissible with reasonable justification.
- PREDATOR TYPE
  - If you are a Neonate, select predator type from Vt:M Core Rulebook pages 175 – 178; Cults of the Blood Gods page 150; Let the Streets Run Red page 76.
  - Those who opt to play mortals who are Embraced in game or Fledglings who have been Embraced for 10 or fewer years will not earn predator types. Therefore if you wish to have a specific hunting style, you should purchase any relevant merits that would not make sense to gain through RP at character creation. Ex: looks, iron gullet,

- ADVANTAGES
  - Select Advantages and Flaws as per VtM: Core Rulebook page 136.
    - 7 Advantages and 2 Flaws. You can take extra Flaws but they do not give you more Advantages.
      - Haven is an exception as you can balance merits and flaws within that background.
    - List all your merits and flaws on the left side of the sheet, and put expanded information under extended info on the right. This includes anything that needs an explanation, such as Mythic Blocks or Banes, contacts, allies, influence, resources, etc. all SPCs must be taken from People & Places of the Coast
    - Disallowed Flaws:
      - Addiction, Archaic, Disease Vector, High Functioning Addict, Illiterate, Living in the Past, Old Tricks, Plaguebringer, Methuselah’s Thirst, Farmer, Organovore
      - ‘Ingrained flaws’ (from Tattered) Ex: Untamed, Daymares, Egomaniac, Killer Instinct
      - Check the Trunk, Risk-Taker, Archangel’s Grace, Bull-Slayer, Known Blankbody
    - Disallowed Merits
      - Ingénue, Short Bond, Unbondable,
    - Allowed but limited:
      - Influence, Status, City Secrets
  - LORESHEETS
    
    Loresheets
    - Remember, loresheets are heavily monitored and will require appropriate justification.
      
      Below, you will find the list of loresheets and any restrictions.
      
      We considered each item on its merits and how well it is able to integrate into a chat setting. Most restrictions are simply because they play better at a small table or are city-specific. Others for their potential for abuse. Still others because we have no plans on introducing that particular element into The Coast After Dark.
      
      If you have a restricted Loresheet level on your character sheet is is highly unlikely that character will be approved as is. That said, if you are an established player with a history of excellence and responsibility and a strong concept, open a ticket and ask. The worst that is going to happen is we'll say no.
      
      We reserve the right to edit this list as necessary.
Step 4: Touchstones, Convictions, & Tenets
- Select from 1-3 linked Touchstones and Convictions as per VtM: Core Rulebook page 136, 172-173. Write them on your sheet as Touchstone Name - Linked Conviction
  - Touchstones must be LOCAL mortals, and chosen from People & Places of the Coast
  - Each Touchstone is linked to a Conviction inspired by that person.
  - We encourage you to think about these and come up with your own unique Convictions that fit your character. For example, a person who was a mortician in life may have the conviction that “He that dies pays all debts,” with this ideal represented to him by a keeper of a graveyard.
  - You may also wish to keep in mind that younger or higher Humanity vampires may have more touchstones and convictions than older or lower humanity vampires.
- List the Chronicle Tenets: Both Universal tenets, and one Sect Tenet as appropriate. Mortals choose a sect tenet that fits their personality best.
